And sadly, I was saying very similar things to what I said back at the Low Pay Rally that Frances O’Grady of the TUC attended in Truro in 2017.
Cornwall *still* needs a payrise. Average wages are *still* lagging 20% behind the rest of the country. But now the cost of living crisis is making it even worse for Cornish workers.
The Labour Party is proposing some answers: Fair pay agreements made collectively by sector; create a single worker status and give everyone employment rights from day 1; ban zero hours contracts and fire and rehire.
But, for now, while we still have this crumbling Tory government, join a union. We’re stronger together.
